Computers 4 Africa has two primary goals, in the short and long terms in Africa.
Helping African People out of Poverty
The short-term goal is lifting African people out of poverty. A single IT trained African individual can earn a wage that is several times the local average. The problem, of course, is the cost of a PC and/or IT training. Africa has the lowest rate of PC ownership per capita in the world; in other words, computers in Africa are rare. Most African schools simply can’t afford computers, meaning most African children will not have access to IT or IT training.
Helping Nations out of Poverty
Our long-term goal improvement of African economies. As information technology progresses, developing nations like most of those in Africa are being left further and further behind. Our aim is to reverse that trend. By providing an education in information and communications technology to African children, African economies can advance into the information age and become self-sustaining - but we need your help to do it!
