A Maidstone infant school makes a big difference

David (Computers 4 Africa) and Wendy (St. Pauls Infant School)St Paul’s Infant School, located on the outskirts of Maidstone has just donated over 30 computers to the Maidstone charity, Computers 4 Africa.

Wendy Pound, Business Manager at St. Pauls commented: "St Paul’s has been fortunate in acquiring new ICT equipment this year and, as a school aiming to be eco-friendly, wanted the redundant computers to be recycled and re-used if possible.  Computers 4 Africa, being a Maidstone based company supported by KCC, seemed the perfect choice.

The school hopes that the children who will be using the equipment will benefit in that it will enable them to develop their ICT skills in a world which more and more is dominated by electronic communication and information.  The school is keen to track the progress of the computers to the school in Tanzania, at the same time allowing the pupils at St Paul’s to develop their knowledge under community cohesion in the worldwide community."

Ida Gaye of Computers 4 Africa comments, “It means a lot to us that St. Paul’s made contact with us. We believe that Maidstone’s community is made up of compassionate individuals and organizations, and we are fortunate to be based here”. This statement has been proven time and again. More and more people from the public are beginning to drop by the Computers 4 Africa offices to donate their un-used IT equipment. In addition, the Computers 4 Africa Maidstone Appeal was one of the charity’s most successful appeals this year.

Fremlim Walk, MaidstoneThe charity also made their debut on Fremlin Walk with music, dancing, and family fun and plan to return again soon. Computers 4 Africa volunteer and Zimbabwean national Faith Dziruni says “We get excited about the solutions to the world’s major issues. There is such a joy in knowing that even if we get just one computer, a family in Africa will have the opportunity to rise out of poverty forever”. Computers 4 Africa would like to thank the Maidstone community and St. Paul’s Infant School for making a big difference in the lives of African children
