As of March 2009, Computers 4 Africa's minimum specification for donated computers is changing to reflect the bulk of new donations and to ensure a continuing high standard for the equipment we pass on to African schools and universities. The new minimum specification has already been published on our Donor Information page - though we will accept PCs that fit our old specification for a limited period while we adjust our remaining systems and documents.
From the end of March onwards, we will not accept any equipment more than five years old. In specification terms, this means our minimum processor speed from then on will be a little over 1 GHz- an early Pentium 4 or equivalent machine.
